Dead Man Walking: Guest List

This is an Invitation to the PRISON PARTY!!!!!!!

When: 5/17/2057

Time: 2:00 AM

Where: Louisiana State Penitentiary: I know you are thinking "Why would I go to a party at a prison."  Well because this is a PRISON THEMED PARTY!!!

Why: This is going to be a good chance for people that support and don't support the death penalty to sit down and talk.

Guest List

PRISON PARTY!!!

Helen Prejean: Helen Prejean is a Nun and advocates for abolishing the death penalty.  She wrote the book Dead Man Walking: An Eyewitnesses Account of the Death Penalty in the United States. The book later turned into the movie Dead Man Walking.  She is played by Susan Sarandon in the film.  She would be the person that would most likely lead the conversations about the death penalty.

Robert Lee Willie: Robert Lee Willie was an American serial killer.  He was on death row for the murder of 2 teenagers.  His spiritual advisor was Sister Helen Prejean.  He would be a great person to have at the dinner party because the movie is based on some of his actions and crimes.

Elmo Patrick Sonnier: Patrick Sonnier was an American murderer and rapist.  He was sentenced to death for the murder of a teenage boy and the rape and attempted murder of a teenage girl.  The crime that he committed is very similar to the crime Matthew Poncelet committed in the movie.  His spiritual advisor was also Sister Helen Prejean.  He would be a good invite because he should share his thoughts on the death penalty since he was a victim of it.

Joe Biden: I invited Joe Biden because he is the president of the United States.  I think it would be interesting to hear his opinion on the death penalty.  It would be good for everyone at the dinner to hear his opinion.

Tim Robbins: Tim Robbins is an American actor, musician, and filmmaker.  I invited Tim Robbins because he is the director of the movie Dead Man Walking.  I would like for him to share what compelled him to create this movie.  Also how the experience was making such an intense movie like this.  I would also want him to share his thoughts on the death penalty after making this movie.

Greg Abbott: Greg Abbott is the governor of Texas.  I invited him because Texas has executed the most people in the United States by a very large margin.  I think it would be good to hear his thoughts on the death penalty and explain why he has approved so many executions.

Sean Penn: Sean Penn was the actor who played Matthew Poncelet in the movie.  He is a world-famous actor and director.  I invited him because I would like to know his opinion on the death penalty.  Also to see if his opinion changed after he was the star in Dead Man Walking.

Susan Sarandon: I invited Susan Sarandon because she was the actress who played Sister Helen Prejean in the movie.  She is a world-renowned actress.  I want her to be at the party because I want to know how her views of the death penalty changed throughout her role as Helen Prejean.  Also, why did she decide to take this acting opportunity?

Abraham J. Bonowitz: Abe Bonowitz is the executive director of the Death Penalty Action Organization.  He has been one of the lead organizers in the Death Penalty Abolition Movement since the 1980s.  He has helped produce numerous direct action and non-violent protests against the death penalty.  I invited him because he would want to share his feelings toward the death penalty with everyone else at the dinner.  Also, I'm sure he would want to talk with Helen Prejean about the issue.

Robert Renny Cushing:  Renny Cushing is the executive director of the Murder Victims' Families for Human Rights movement.  This is an organization for murder victims' families and families whose relatives have been executed.  He has approached congress several times about his opinions on the death penalty.  He would be a great person to invite because he could share his opinions with Abe Bonowitz and Helen Prejean.

  2. Good job with your guest list. I don't see a historian but I might just not know the people you invited. It looks like you put in a lot of effort with this
